Easy Air Head Composting Toilet Installation Videos

This is weird to say, but we were so excited when we got our  "Air Head Composting Toilet" in the mail. Who knew getting a toilet would ever be this big of a deal. But this was our (first) composting toilet, and we just were giddy at the thought of having this waterless toilet help us be more sustainable and be able to stay out in the woods longer (see our Benefits Of Having A Composting Toilet post).

Below is a two-part video we made of our installation to help you with your Air Head installation. Feel free to email us if you have any questions.

Here's a list of the tools needed to do an install, plus a few extras we found helpful for our particular setup:

  • Isopropyl alcohol for cleaning parts
  • Purple PVC primer
  • Blue PVC cement
  • Pencil for temporary marking
  • Sharpie for more visible marking
  • Drill (cordless is nice for tight spaces)
    • 1/8” drill bit
    • #2 screwdriver bit
    • 2 1/4” hole saw (2 1/2” works too)
  • #2 and #3 Phillips-head manual screwdrivers
  • Safety glasses
  • Razor knife
  • Wire cutters (diagonal cutters)
  • Wire strippers
  • Wire crimp connectors (type depends on your install and wiring; fan wires are 18 AWG)
  • Nice to have:
    • Inspection mirror for tight spaces
    • Flashlight
    • Dremel tool with wood-cutting disc attachment
    • Measuring tape

Happy pooping!
